Mary Ann Prout

Mary Ann Prout passed into the arms of Jesus on May 28th, 2023 at her home on Bainbridge Island, Washington, at 73 years young after a long fight with cancer. She was born in Portland, Oregon, and lived many places during her life (Virginia, Florida, California, Hawaii, and Washington) while raising her two boys and enjoying life with her husband Bruce, married for 52 years.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for August 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Island Church, 9624 Sportsman Club Road NE, Bainbridge Island, Washington 98110 for family and friends. This will be a celebration of Mary Ann’s life.

Mary Ann spent a great deal of time and energy in service to others. Her great love was her family; she is survived by her husband Bruce, her two sons David and Ben, and six grand-children; Sydney, Tyler, Audrey and Reilly (David and Cori Prout), and Henry and Nathan (Ben and Jennifer Prout). She loved them all dearly, and is deeply loved in return.

Mary Ann loved to pray for and counsel those in need, and was a strong help to many at the Healing Rooms in Bremerton and Silverdale, as well as at her local church. She was well known as a prayer warrior.

Mary Ann loved the outdoors, and was an avid sea kayaker, scuba diver, hiker and walker. She loved her garden and flowers. She was a lifeguard, a Speech Language Pathologist for many years in school districts in Florida and Washington, and especially loved to help children with learning disabilities.

Mary Ann was deeply appreciative of organizations helping those in need; please consider donating to Helpline House (https://www.helplinehouse.org/donate), Kitsap Rescue Mission (https://kitsaprescue.org/) or Bread of Life Mission (https://www.breadoflifemission.org/).

Mary Ann was the very best Mom and wife; we miss her terribly, and rejoice at her new and improved life.
