IRA Yellin

Former Bainbridge Island resident Ira Yellin passed away Friday, April 3 in Alameda, California. He was 69.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he moved to the East Bay area more than 20 years ago where he worked as an elevator mechanic for National Elevator for more than 40 years.

Prior to that, he served as a proud hero in Vietnam for the Marine Corps and was the recipient of four honors, including two Purple Hearts. His other interests were fitness and Harleys.

He is survived by his wife Lenore Walker of Alameda, daughters Micah Elie and Sarah Yellin. He is also survived by grandchildren Jaiden Goodoien, Devon Elie and Miles Elie and sister Judith Stone.

Graveside services will be held in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
