Gladys Cleven

Gladys Rone Cleven

July 28, 1920 – April 11, 2013

Gladys passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus on April 11, 2013. Born July 28, 1920, she was the second child of John and Kristine Rone of Seattle.

Upon graduation from Ballard High School she worked at the Pacific Telephone Company. After marrying Richard (Dick) Murray Cleven the couple settled on Bainbridge Island.

For 80 years one of her greatest joys was playing her violin at church and in various music groups. She attended Bainbridge Bible Chapel and Keyport Bible Church as long as her health allowed. For the past seven years she has resided at Montclair Park in Poulsbo; the past four of those years in Haven Crest, their memory care unit. The family especially want to thank the staff for the exceedingly kind and compassionate care she received.

Gladys is survived by her son, Loren (Donna) Cleven; grandchildren, Coleen (Matthew) Turner and Kathryn Cleven; sister, Donna (Fred) Monte; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and brothers Melvin and Kenneth. In 2010 Gladys thoroughly enjoyed her 90th birthday celebration. Thank you to so many who shared that special time with her.

A more complete obituary is available at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com. A family graveside service took place April 16th.
