George Stephen Broom of Bainbridge Island passed away in his sleep on June 26, 2025. George was born on July 10, 1939 in Seattle to the late Grenville and Gladys Broom and is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Marshall Broom, son Todd Broom, daughter Camelle (Jeffrey) LeBlanc of Bainbridge Is and grandchildren Brennan, Brielle, Milena, Griffin, Jack and Hayden.
George was a graduate of Bainbridge Island High School and had a successful career in sales for Van Waters and Rogers and before he left to work in the family business, George Broom Sons of Seattle which was started by his grandfather in 1910. George retired in 2022 selling the business which is now 115 years old. George also supported his children in their activities including coaching baseball.
George loved life and enjoyed people. He and Sharon joined a square dancing club in 1984 which led to dancing all over the United States as well as serving as president in 2006-2007 for Washington State Square and Folk Dance Association. They were also able to travel with other square dancers over the years, including other countries, which was especially enjoyable.
Memorial services for George are open to all who wish to remember him, and will take place on July 16” 11:00 am at St. Cecilia’s Parish on Bainbridge Island.
