Dorothy Doane, age 87, died Dec. 20 at Messenger House Care Center on Bainbridge Island.

She was born April 25, 1916 in Butte, Mont., to Rade and Draga Jerick.

She was raised in Montana and Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Gordon Doane in 1939 in Coulee Dam, Wash.

The couple raised their two children, Robert and Cynthia, in Poulsbo and then in Alaska. They spent 20 years in Alaska before retiring to Bainbridge Island in 1975.

She enjoyed bowling, golfing and caring for her family.

She is survived by son Robert of Bainbridge; daughter Cynthia of Seattle; grandchildren Sophia, Max and Kelly; and great-granddaughter Jessica.

A memorial will be held in the spring in Almira, Wash., where her ashes will be buried next to her husband’s.
