Donald (Donnie) Duckworth

Oct. 22, 1951 – Aug. 29, 2018

Donald (Donnie) Duckworth, 66, cruised into heaven on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. He was born October 22, 1951 to Herman and Dolores Duckworth in Bremerton, Washington. He was raised at their family home on McDonald Avenue and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1969. Afterward, he attended auto body school in West Seattle and then worked for Jerry Tonnison’s Auto Rebuild on the Island. He started working with his brother, Ronald, at Duckworth Pump and Well Drilling in 1978. That year, his friend, Norm Gunderson, introduced him to a pretty blonde whom he married within a year. Donnie and the love of his life, Sheila McLean, built their home in Poulsbo, next door to his brother where they raised their families. Donnie and Sheila were blessed with three children, Derick, Ryan and Melanie. Donnie loved all his children very much, and enjoyed taking them four wheeling in their old motor home and on family fishing trips.

Donnie loved life, enjoyed classic cars and going to car shows to see many friends, old and new. Fall was his favorite time of year, with hunting and mushrooming filling his spare time. He loved fishing and camping, whenever he could talk his boys into going with him. Any adventure with Donnie was not for the faint of heart.

Donnie was known for his sense of humor and amusing stories, which he told with much enthusiasm and energy. He was so light hearted; he knew everything would always work out. This helped in life, as well as in the water well drilling business.

Donnie will be greatly missed. He was a man of deep faith and had full confidence in where he would spend eternity. We know because of God’s love, Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection, that all who put their trust in Him will be reunited with Donnie in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife Sheila; children Derick (Annmarie), Ryan (Madison), and Melanie; one granddaughter, Rowan Ann; brother Ron (Sally); sister, Pamela; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 8th at 2:00 pm. It will be held at Bainbridge First Baptist Church , 8810 Madison Avenue NE, Bainbridge Island. Please join us for a classic car cruise after the memorial, bring your car if you have one!
