Donald Arthur Babbe

September 20, 1938 – December 25, 2012

      Donald Arthur Babbe passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Island Health & Rehabilitation Center on Bainbridge Island, WA. He was born on September 20, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. He was 74 years of age.

      Don graduated from UCLA with a PhD from Berkeley, CA. He worked as a pharmaceutical chemist, developing and researching for Cutter Labs and Allergan, until moving to Bainbridge where he worked at Safeway. Don was a family man, a good supportive husband who enjoyed their home on Bainbridge Island. He enjoyed walking their dog, Pinkie, along the beach, in the forest and around town. He enjoyed visiting the folks of Bainbridge while working at Safeway. Don loved Washington state, where he and his wife shared their 50th wedding anniversary at Pacific Beach. He loved to travel and enjoyed river trips in France, travel to Spain, Monte Carlo and Italy. He was loved by many and will be missed.

      Don is survived by his wife Barbara Babbe of Bainbridge Island, WA, siblings; Beverly Bussey of Nevada City, CA, Robert Babbe of Rialto, CA, children; David Babbe of Las Vegas, NV, Mark Babbe of Mahwah, NJ and Kathy Babbe of Redmond, WA. He also leaves behind his dear grandchildren; David, Lauren, Mathew, Morgan, Nicolas and Alex. Don was preceded in death by his parents Arthur John and Edna Babbe.

      Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the celebration of life on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Cook Family Funeral Home, 163 Wyatt Way NE on Bainbridge Island.
