Carl E. Neuswanger

Carl E. Neuswanger, age 70

      Carl E. Neuswanger of Poulsbo, WA and formerly of Bainbridge Island, WA, died March 2 under Hospice care.

Carl was born in Pocatello, ID on December 18, 1941, to Frank R. Neuswanger and Marguerite Root Neuswanger. Carl was a war orphan, his father was killed in 1944.

      Carl’s mother remarried to a career soldier. They lived in Germany, Panama, Connecticut and Colorado. In 1965 he graduated from an architecture program at the University of Idaho. It was here that he met the love of his life Sharon Lee Neal, marrying her after his sophomore year. During his career he worked for private architects, the Federal Housing Administration and the Seattle office of HUD in 1984, from which he retired after 31 years.

      Carl was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, camper, boater, car enthusiast, and loved sculpting and painting. He was a member of several clubs including the Elks & Old Vintage Auto Club.

      He his survived by his wife; Sharon of 49 years; daughters Sabrina and Tara; brothers R. Russell Neuswanger and Dee Holland; and three grandsons, Cruz, Max and Bodie.

      A memorial service will take place at Bainbridge First Baptist Church on March 31 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Hospice Care Center in Bremerton. Post any special memories you have online at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
