Betty Ogle Schloss

Retired school teacher Betty Ogle Schloss, 58, died Dec. 3, in Kelso, after battling cancer.

She and her siblings grew up on Bainbridge Island, and she graduated in 1961 from Bainbridge High School.

She enjoyed teaching at the elementary level and working to train Girl Scout leaders.

She is survived by her husband, Jacob (Jack) Schloss; daughter Wendy Schloss-Smith; two sons, Jeffrey and David Schloss, and a granddaughter.

She is also survived by one sister and four brothers.

A vigil service was held Dec. 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kelso.

A memorial mass and celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at St. Mary’s.

The celebration will be followed by a luncheon. The family asks that no flowers be provided.
