Amy Brown, age 78, died May 27 at her home on Bainbridge Island.

She was born July 14, 1924 and grew up in Poulsbo.

She joined the staff of Messenger House in 1956 and worked there until her retirement in 1994.

In 1960, she moved to Fort Ward with her parents and her sister Margaret when her father bought one of the homes surplused by the Navy. She lived in the home until her death.

She loved cats, and embodied the spirit of old Fort Ward.
