Much of Bainbridge Island was without power Saturday morning as a windstorm continues to sweep the Puget Sound area.

Electricity was out for much of the island, north of the Madison Avenue-Highway 305 intersection, and in Winslow.

Puget Sound Energy reported 800 customers without power on Bainbridge and Port Madison, and lights were out for 1,200 customers in Winslow.

Outages were also reported by PSE in Bremerton (2,700 customers) and Port Orchard (1,000 customers).

Traffic lights were out at the Highway 305 intersections of Day Road and Sportsman Club Road; drivers were treating those intersections as four-way stops.

The Bainbridge Island Fire Department has been responding to numerous reports of power lines that have been knocked down.

The lights were on at the Island Village Shopping Center and along High School Road. The McDonald’s on High School Road was doing a brisk business Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service in Seattle said a wind advisory will remain in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.

Falling trees and power outages are expected throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph and gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely.
