Waypoint Woods event changed to March 20

The Waypoint Woods Community Conversation and park walking tour has been rescheduled for 2-4 p.m. March 20.

It was canceled last week because of police activity at the ferry terminal that ended up being a hoax.

The event begins with a presentation of preliminary park designs at the Bainbridge Island Rowing Stan Pocock Legacy Boathouse, 301 Shannon Drive in Waterfront Park. A walking tour follows. Waypoint Woods is located at the corner of Olympic and Harborview drives, bounded by the Winslow Waterfront Trail and Waypoint plaza near the ferry terminal.

The BI Parks Foundation is leading a planning process to improve the 3-acre park for neighborhood and visitor use. Enhancements could include benches with views of Eagle Harbor, a new park entrance at the Waterfront Trail footbridge and other features.

Register for the Community Conversation event and to receive project updates at biparksfoundation.charityproud.org/ Also, volunteers are sought for a new Waypoint Woods Advisory Committee for planning and fundraising. Email barb@biparksfoundation.org for details.
