Volunteers sought to count Kitsap homeless

Volunteers are needed to count the homeless in Kitsap County Jan. 24-27.

No experience needed, and training is provided, but you must sign up by Jan. 16 at kcowa.us/kitsap-pit. Adult volunteers are needed for just a few hours from all walks of life.

During the Point in Time Count, volunteers conduct surveys in different locations where they live, spend time and receive services. Data informs government funders about the scope of homelessness and helps channel money to local communities.

On Jan. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. those in Poulsbo Project Connect will be counted, as well as those at food banks from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Jan. 25, those at evening meals from 5-6 will be counted, along with those at food banks from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and those at Bremerton Project Connect from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Jan. 26, outreach counts in North, South and Central Kitsap, along with Bremerton, will take place from 6:30-10 a.m. Port Orchard Project Connect is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. it is food banks and from 5-6 the evening meals.
