Thousands of islanders were still without power early Monday on Bainbridge Island following the destructive windstorm that blasted through Puget Sound Sunday.

More than 50 outages were still ongoing early Monday, March 14 on Bainbridge, according to Puget Sound Energy.

PSE is estimating that power may be restored to many areas on the island by noon Monday.

Two of the largest outages covered the area from Agate Passage to Hidden Cove, and Port Blakely south to Fort Ward and South Beach. PSE said more than 800 customers were without power on the island’s north end, and approximately 764 homes didn’t have electricity in the neighborhoods north and south of Blakely Harbor.

Other places with hundreds without power Monday included Manitou Beach and Battle Point.

Scattered outages were also reported around Lynwood Center, Wing Point and Ferncliff.

Approximately 15,000 homes and businesses in Kitsap County were without power at 8 a.m. Monday, according to PSE.

PSE said the storm cut power to 176,000 of its customers, and crews have repaired 17 of the 23 transmission lines damaged by the storm. A total of 33 substations that were damaged have also been fixed.

Crews worked overnight to restore power, PSE said. Eighteen crews were called in to help restore power before the storm hit, and another 10 crews arrived Sunday night.
