UPDATE | Lead for Prop. 1 narrows a bit in latest vote count

A new vote tally for the Feb. 9 Special Election shows Bainbridge Island’s Proposition 1 for new school facilities is still moving forward to approval. More votes against Prop. 1 than for it have come in since Election Night, however, so the margin of victory for the $81.2 million bond proposal has narrowed slightly.

Prop. 1 has a 62.1 percent yes vote, down from 62.2 on Election Night.

The measure needs a 60 percent supermajority to pass.

The new tally has 62.1 percent in favor of Prop. 1, and 37.9 percent opposed, according to the Kitsap County Elections Division.

The fresh ballot count is 5,439 votes in favor, and 3,324 votes against, a difference of 2,115 votes.

A total of 958 new ballots were counted in Wednesday’s tally.
