UPDATE | Bainbridge bus routes changed due to storm

The routes of some afternoon school buses on Bainbridge Island will be changed due to roads blocked by fallen trees and power lines.

A powerful windstorm has knocked down trees across the island and multiple roads are currently closed.

The Bainbridge Island School District has announced the following bus route changes for Friday, Oct. 14:

WILKES ROUTE 34, BHS/WMS/SAKAI ROUTE 33

West Port Madison students will be dropped at Highway 305 and W. Port Madison Road.

WILKES/BHS/WMS/SAKAI/ODY/EHHS/BLAKELY ROUTES 44, 30, 50

Students will be dropped at Hansen Road and Springridge Road, and Hansen Road and Foster Road.

BHS/WMS/SAKAI/ODY/EHHS ROUTE 33

Students who live on Manzanita Road between Hidden Cove Road and Bergman Road at Peterson Hill, will stop at Hidden Cove/Manzanita and at Bergman/Peterson Hill.

The school district has also canceled all out-of-district travel scheduled to leave on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 15 and Oct. 16) due to weather-related concerns.

The cancellations will affect the Woodward Middle School robotics team and the Bainbridge High School band.
