Tollefson gets nod for mayor

Councilman Val Tollefson was elected by his fellow council members at their meeting Tuesday to serve as mayor.

The ceremonial post comes with a two-year term.

Tollefson was nominated for the job by Councilman Wayne Roth.

Roth was also nominated for the position, but Tollefson was chosen during the council’s subsequent vote on the nominations.

Tollefson, a District 7 North Ward councilman, was elected to the council in November 2013.

Councilwoman Sarah Blossom was chosen as deputy mayor.

Blossom, who has been on the council since 2014 and is now the longest serving councilwoman, was elected to a second term in November to the District 6 South Ward council seat.
