It will be an egg-citing event, for sure.

The fourth annual Bainbridge Island “Tour de Coop” is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 21.

The vision of islander Jo Ann Trick, the Tour de Coop offers a self-guided tour of Bainbridge Island chicken coops, with all proceeds going to Helpline House.

This year there will be eight new coops across the island.  The featured coops include such creative and thoughtfully named venues as Cackling Crow Farm, Bantam Abbey, Gypsies in the Palace, Chicken Coop for the Soul, Hogger Lavender Henhouse, Ladies of Wisteria Place, the Enchanted Tiki Coop, and Home to Roost.

Last year, the tour successfully raised more than $3,000 for Helpline House.

A special after-tour celebration is planned at Bay Hay and Feed, sponsored by owners Ce-Ann Parker and Howard Block, and is open to all tour-goers and coop owners. The event will include drinks and egg-inspired appetizers.

Tickets for the Tour de Coop are on sale at Bay Hay and Feed,  Classic Cycle and Dana’s Showhouse. Cash or check accepted. Purchased tickets include a map and directions to the chicken coops.

Ticket prices remain the same as last year: individual by bicycle, $8; individual by auto, $10; four people by carpool, $30.

For islanders unable to take this year’s tour, they shouldn’t worry they will be out of cluck, er, luck.

When asked if she will continue organizing the event, Trick said: “Yes, it’s still fun, so I’ll keep doing it!”
