C.C. Protests City Sewer
The Chamber of Commerce approved a resolution Tuesday protesting “with all the indignation at its command the affront and danger in the thoughtless plan by the City of Seattle to dump huge quantities of sewage into Puget Sound.”
The resolution was approved upon recommendation of the health and recreation committee, headed by Ron Donaldson, Lynwood Center.
Workers OK Union Shop
Employees at the West Coast Wood Preserving Company’s Creosote plant voted 57 to 0 in favor of a union shop in a National Labor Relations Board election Tuesday afternoon.
Four of the 62 eligible workers were absent from work, and one other failed to vote. The union to which the men belong is Local No. 3185, Lumber and Sawmill Workers, American Federation of Labor.
Motor Trouble Stops Bus Monday
The Bainbridge Bus Company’s 6:15 p.m. bus to Port Madison broke down near Manitou Monday night, when a piston broke and a connecting rod broke a cylinder wall in the motor.
Ray Johnson, driver, obtained cars from the Rodal Motors garage to take 20 stranded passengers to their homes.
Major repairs will be needed to put the bus into running condition, leaving only one bus to cover the scheduled runs, Bob Rodal, Rolling Bay, owner of the company, said.

Hansen Finally Changes Shirt
George Hansen, Island Center, has a “new $10 wool shirt that looks good and is mighty comfortable,” he told members of his family Saturday evening.
And he wasn’t going to change it for a “dress-up” shirt, despite efforts of younger members of the family!
But Mr. Hansen dashed into his bedroom and put on the dress-up shirt mighty quick, he said later, when 40 friends and neighbors came in for a surprise party and to celebrate the Hansen’s silver wedding anniversary.
In addition to the surprise and the many gifts the couple was presented with a purse of silver from their friends.
