Strong winds are knocking down trees and power lines on Bainbridge Island on Thursday.

The Bainbridge Island Fire Department reported power lines down on Fletcher Bay Road near Bucklin Hill just after noon.

A tree was also reported blocking Spargur Loop in the 8700 block.

Firefighters also responded to a report of wires on fire on Sunrise Drive between Valley Road and Roberts Road earlier Thursday.

The National Weather Service Office in Seattle has issued a wind advisory for the Puget Sound region until 6 p.m. Thursday.

South winds of 20 to 35 mph are expected, with gusts near 50 mph.

The strongest winds are expected at midday.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph and gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely, according to the National Weather Service.

Puget Sound Energy is reporting multiple power outages in Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties.
