Dale and Carol Sperling of Bainbridge Island are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Anna Sperling, to Matthew McAlvanah, son of William and Florence McAlvanah of Montclair, N.J.

The future bride graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2004 and earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science and environmental studies from St. Olaf College.

The future groom graduated from Montclair High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from The Ohio State University.

Both Anna and Matt live and work in Washington, D.C. No date has been set for the wedding.
