Colin Hyde Post 172 will host a Patriot Day service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Legion Hall at 7880 NE Bucklin Hill Road.

The public is invited along with Legionnaires, Legion Auxiliary members and Sons of the American Legion, for a program featuring newly elected Post Commander Gary Sakuma as guest speaker.

Patriot Day is a designated holiday for our nation’s flag to be flown at half-staff at government buildings as well as homes and businesses. The Legion Post is encouraging everyone who is not able to attend the event to stand in silence for a few moments at noon to honor those who lost their lives or were injured in the Sept. 11 terror attacks as well as service members killed or wounded in the War on Terror.

Refreshments will be served following the service.
