Search and rescue cancels BI ferry runs

Washington State Ferries sent out an alert this morning canceling the 5:30 and 6:20 route from Bainbridge Island to Seattle.

The only reason listed was because of an ongoing Coast Guard search and rescue.

WSF spokesman said a 20-foot derelict boat was seen floating in Puget Sound. A rescue boat was launched off the Suquamish Ferry around 6 this morning to investigate to see if anyone was onboard. There wasn’t.

The rescue boat then towed the derelict board to dock.

It also put the Tacoma ferry behind schedule.
