Roadside protestor should be ignored | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

It was with dismay that I read the article, “Roadside Reading Material.” My opinion of the picture and accompanying article about Robin Horton is that he is patently wrong. This article begs the questions, “Does the editor agree with the subject matter in the article and did the editor make an attempt to verify the information shown in the signs?”

Free speech allows anyone to say just about anything regardless of the truth. Intelligent editorial prudence, however, demands that the editor of the Review determine the factual basis of the story and then determine the newsworthiness.

The article as presented without any research of the “information” depicted is not only irresponsible but also evil and has the potential to do great harm to the Jewish citizens of Bainbridge Island.

I do not know the motivation of Horton but perhaps the editor should have done some of his own research before writing this article. The article in the hyperlink http://www.911MYTHS.com/html/dancing_israelis.html would be a good start.

The fabrication presented in the Review does harm because by presenting these lies, the Review may lend some false credence to this blatantly anti-Semitic falsehood. I tried to talk with this man last year when he was parading his anti-Semitic screed at Lynwood Center. I wasted my time.

Did the editor of the Review even think of the possible consequences before reporting this story? I doubt the editor did, which is editorial irresponsibility of the highest order. The article in the hyperlink from the Anti Defamation League should prove of interest to you and your readers Global100.ADL.org. There is no tribute paid to the once proud heritage of the Review by publishing this evil.
