Bainbridge Island City Councilman Michael Pollock, who is not running for re-election, declined an interview and was very brief in his email responses about climate change.
To lower his carbon footprint, he avoids air travel and drives an electric vehicle, has electric yard tools and is developing a low-maintenance yard.
He also installed solar panels sufficient to produce electricity equal to his approximate annual consumption. He said he’s working on phasing out the use of plastics, but has found that “fairly challenging.”
Pollock said he was inspired to action by the consequences of climate change. “In general, to paraphrase Ben Franklin, I try to consume less and produce more.”
