City Councilman Bill Knobloch announced Wednesday his plans to seek re-election.

Knobloch, an Azalea Avenue resident, serves the island’s Central Ward. He is in his second term, a two-year stint, following re-election to the post in 2005.

“For the past five years, my experience as a City Council member has been exciting, educational and daunting,” he said in statement. “My intention is to continue serving the public benefit on issues that affect residents of my district and the island as a whole.”

A recent change in county election laws moved the schedule for filing for public office forward significantly, Knobloch said, explaining the timing of his announcement.
