The Chilly Hilly, Bainbridge’s premiere bicycling event, saw at least 4,400 participants this year, according to the Cascade Bicycle Club.

The annual 33-mile ride, which has heralded the impending arrival of spring on Bainbridge Island for the past 43 years, didn’t exactly live up to its name this year, as temperatures hovered in the middle and high 50s throughout the day.

Named “One of Four Classic Rides” in the nation by Bicycling Magazine, the island tradition offers 2,675 feet of hill climbing throughout.
