The man who was taken into custody after a 90-minute standoff with police last week outside of Bainbridge High after he had made threatening remarks against the school and a student has been seen near the school several times since his release by mental health authorities late last week.

The Bainbridge Island School District sent an email to parents Monday to  advise them that the man’s car had been seen at the high school on Saturday evening, and the man was also sighted across the street from the high school on Monday.

District officials said BHS principal Jake Haley spoke with the man after he was seen near the high school Monday, and he voluntarily agreed to leave the area.

An extra police officer has been assigned to the high school, according to the school district, and the district also has hired two additional temporary employees to assist with supervision on the main campus of Bainbridge High.

Police are also patrolling other schools on the island.

District officials are reminding the community to call 911 if they see the man’s white Cadillac on school property.
