The 21-year-old transient arrested in December for his alleged involvement in a string of rash of car prowls, burglaries and auto thefts is now facing felony charges, city of Bainbridge Island officials said Tuesday.

Aaron Michaels Bylsma was arrested in mid-December connection to three car thefts, three burglaries and about 40 car prowls that happened over a five-day period in downtown Winslow.

Bylsma was initially jailed on vehicle prowl charges, but recent additional felony charges include theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property in the second degree.

Bainbridge police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed as recovered items are paired with victims, and as evidence continues to return from the Washington State Patrol crime lab.

Police said recovered stolen items still not claimed include several pairs of white ear buds, a pair of headphones, numerous gift cards, a ferry pass, two pairs of sunglasses, a phone charger and a small red keychain flashlight.

Bylsma remains in custody in Kitsap County Jail, and bail has been set at $10,000 for the felony charge of possessing stolen property.

His next court date has been set for Feb. 6.
