Former Bainbridge Island councilman Bill Knobloch filed for a restraining order against former council candidate Robert Dashiell Thursday morning. Dashiell was served with the order later Thursday.

The restraining order comes as a response to a tussle between the two men during Wednesday evening’s city council meeting. The pair have given differing accounts of how the incident unfolded, but what is known is that Knobloch ended up falling backward onto a table.

“Knobloch claimed that I had punched him, and I didn’t punch him, I shoved him,” Dashiell said. “If I had punched him, he would have been bleeding. They would have to have had an ambulance there.”

Dashiell also tried to file for a restraining order against Knobloch, but Knobloch has already filed his.

According to Dashiell, the judge denied his request because it would be a “tit for tat” restraining order.

Dashiell said that the restraining order is only a two-week-long temporary order and that both men will resolve the issue on March 27 when they see the judge again.

Knobloch had previously said that he was going to take a “deep breath” and consider filing the restraining order but has since decided to pursue it.
