Man charged with 6 crimes; bail $200K
A Port Orchard man was in Kitsap County Superior Court March 6 after being caught with body armor stolen from the military, “washed” $1 bills being turned into $100 bills and guns that included three AK-style rifles.
Bail was set at $200,000 for the 45-year-old man arrested on a warrant from last week that charges him with six crimes. He’s charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and two coounts of possession of a stolen vehicle (each 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine maximum); along with possession of meth (10 years, $1,000-$25,000 fine depending on amount);
Court records say Kitsap deputies went to the 4400 block of Oakhurst Lane SW in Port Orchard Feb. 26. The suspect was supposed to leave the residence as part of a divorce. His wife had a temporary restraining order against him due to threats to kill her and her child. When the deputy arrived he saw guns and drugs.
The suspect has 14 felony convictions for illegal possession of firearms and drugs with intent to deliver. Confiscated were: two AR-15 rifles, one AK-47 rifle, one shotgun and one .22-caliber rifle. There were 19 ounces of meth in a bag and a plastic container labeled “Coke powder.” A scale and other drug paraphernalia also were found. There was also a dispenser with slots labeled, “Brick, Quarter Pound and Zip.” Those refer to various quantities of controlled substances.
Deputies also found a money-counting machine and a large number of “washed” $1 bills that had the ink removed from them. They were being reprinted as $100 bills. Around the residence were six stolen vehicles. A plastic-wrapped ball of white powder weighing 32.6 grams was found in a drawer with a “fetty spoon,” which is slang for fentanyl. Body armor stolen from the military also was found. It’s used to stop high-powered firearm rounds.
The wife also reported her husband to officials Jan. 20. She was staying at a different location due to past domestic abuse, including holding a gun to her head and assaulting both her and the juvenile child. The warrant was issued Feb. 27 when he avoided police by driving off recklessly. Officers stopped the pursuit when other motorists were put at risk.
Suspect complains of rib pain after resisting arrest
A 43-year-old Tacoma man was in Superior Court March 6 charged with residential burglary.
He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Bail was $60,000.
Court documents show that Bremerton police responded March 5 at 7:17 a.m. to an attempted break-in to a residence on 10th Street. The suspect had tried to do something similar 20 minutes earlier on 8th Street. A victim told dispatch, “A man is trying to get into the house,” when he tried to enter through the front door. He went to a back window and a man in the house opened the back door and told him to leave.
He was leaving when police arrived. He resisted arrest and ran away. An officer pushed the suspect into a rock wall, pinning him there. He then went to the ground and was handcuffed. The homeowners had video of the entire event. The suspect complained of rib pain and was taken to a medical facility for clearance as first-responders said there was no reason to take him to a hospital.
Victim can’t escape attack at bar
Bail was set at $150,000 for a 44-year-old Tacoma man charged with robbery in Kitsap County Superior Court March 5.
She faces a maximum penalty of life in prison and $50,000 in fines.
Court documents say Port Orchard police were dispatched to the Blue Goose Tavern at 1604 Bay St. March 3 at 10:01 p.m. The bartender said the suspect was a “regular,” having been there almost every night since she started a few weeks ago.
He seemed to be getting along with the man he was talking, but then must have heard him wrong as he grabbed his hair and started “whaling” on him, punching the victim in the face at least 15 times.
The bartender got between them to break it up. She ran a credit card to pay the bill then took it out to the suspect. Then he returned and “started beating him up again.” The suspect took the victim’s backpack and tossed it across the bar. The victim even ran behind the bar to try to escape the fight.
The suspect turned himself in the next day after talking to police.

Court papers show the State Patrol responded March 6 at 7:28 p.m. to a three-car collision on Highway 3 just south of Highway 104. A woman said she was northbound on Highway 3 when an SUV headed southbound hit her head-on. An adult man and a 2-year-old boy in her vehicle also were injured.
The SUV’s driver said a vehicle in front of him slowed and he swerved to avoid it, but hit the other one. A patrolman saw cannabis in that vehicle. He was arrested but gave a false name. Later officers found out that was because he wasn’t supposed to leave Oregon due to previous convictions. Officers also found out later he had similar convictions in California in 2022 and 2020. He was taken to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale due to his injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to St. Michael with a broken ankle. The passenger of the victim vehicle was life-flighted to St. Joseph’s in Tacoma with internal bleeding and broken vertebrae.
