A 21-year-old Port Orchard woman was in Kitsap County Superior Court July 21 charged with assault with a deadly weapon, which happened to be a shovel. She was tased during the arrest.
She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court papers say Kitsap deputies arrested the woman July 20 at 11:38 a.m. at SW Lake Flora. A woman hit a man and his truck with a shovel.
The woman approached officers as if to fight, so she was shot with a taser.
The victim said they were arguing about her possibly cheating on him via Snapchat. She started damaging his clothes and the RV’s kitchen. The man, who is in his 40s, tried to restrain her, but she kicked him in the groin.
When he tried to leave, he was hit with the shovel, which was also used to break a vehicle’s window. She said the victim broke her phone and slapped her during the argument. She said the shovel was used to protect herself.
Woman steals while kids are in vehicle
A 26-year-old Kingston woman was in Superior Court July 23 charged with burglary.
Bail was $50,000. She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records say Bremerton police responded July 22 at 8:30 p.m. to the Winco at 4660 Kitsap Way. The suspect stole 23 items worth over $156. She had trespassed, having been banned from the store for stealing previously.
The suspect was upset because her children ages 7 and 3 were in the car. She then had a seizure due to frontal lobe epilepsy.
Argument, assault leads to arrest
A 27-year-old man from Chimacum was in Superior Court July 25 after being arrested on a warrant from April for three charges.
He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for unlawful imprisonment; the same penalty for defying a court order; and a year in jail and a $5,000 fine for interfering with reporting domestic violence.
Court records say the victim had a protection order against the suspect but they still met at a hotel in Poulsbo. They got into an argument in a truck, the suspect took control of the vehicle and would not let her leave. He also took her phone and tossed her car keys into a field. He grabbed her hair and smashed her into a window. At a rounbabout she jumped out, but he made her get back in. They drove all over Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island.
Man arrested after standoff with police
A 37-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court July 24 facing two charges after a several hours standoff with police the day before.
He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine for burglary and five years and a $10,000 fine for harassment.
Court information says Bremerton police arrested the man July 23 at 3:10 a.m. on E. Broad Street.
The victim said his brother began punching him in the face, forcing him to leave his own house. He then picked up a large chef’s knife and waved it at him. He then hit him over the head with the wooden handle from a harpoon-style weapon. The suspect, a transient, had been told he was no longer welcome in the home. The mother who lives there had surgery so was staying with other family.
After a standoff of several hours with police and the Kitsap County SWAT team, the suspect was arrested.
The harpoon ended up being a garden trowel and the other weapon was a butter knife. The victim said the fear of the moment made the situation seem bigger.
Man steals candy bars, flips off video cameras
A 45-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court July 21 charged with burglary after flipping off surveillance cameras while stealing candy bars.
Bail was $50,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records say Bremerton police responded to Winco in the 4900 block of Kitsap Way at 6:39 p.m. July 19 after employees witnessed a man stealing food. The thief was seen on surveillance cameras and was arrested last month for the same crime.
The suspect hid candy bars in his clothing, along with flipping off and making gun gestures with his fingers at the camera.
Bystanders yell at man to stop strangulation
A 27-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court July 21 charged with assault.
He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records say Kitsap deputies made the arrest July 19 at 5:31 p.m. in the 3200 block of SE Lund Avenue.
The victim said they were arguing at a gas station when she got out of the car. The suspect grabbed her neck and strangled her. He let go when bystanders yelled at him.
Teen stole over $5K from foster mom
An 18-year-old Port Orchard woman was in Superior Court July 22 arrested on a warrant from February for theft.
She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records show Kitsap deputies first responded Dec. 30 of last year at 2:58 p.m. to the 11100 block of Wicks Lake Road. A mom said a foster daughter used her credit card to make Amazon purchases of over $5,275. The daughter told the mom the money came from investments in the stock market.
She told officers the bank card she used came from her biological father. She also said she invested $100 she made from doing chores, and that she made $1,000 in the stock market. She then said she would work off whatever was charged to her foster mom’s card.
$140K bail for man who stole items
A 25-year-old man was in Superior Court July 25 facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm along with possession of stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle.
He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine on the second charge; and five years and a $10,000 fine on the other two. Bail was $140,000.
Court papers say the man was arrested by Kitsap deputies July 24 at 9:21 a.m. in the 3500 block of SE Navigation lane in Port Orchard. Two people were in a parked vehicle that was stolen.
The woman said the man picked her up at her parents’ house then parked and consumed intoxicating substances. She didn’t know the car was stolen. The man had a woman’s ID and credit cards on him. That person was the victim of a car prowl.
As the woman took a dog that was in the trunk a subwoofer was observed that had been taken also in the car prowl. A gun taken in a different car prowl also was found. Five pounds of shaved and modified keys, along with drugs, eight cell phones, TV screens, a laptop, and tools used to break in vehicles also were discovered.
Man robs family that helped him
A 32-year-old man from Tracyton was in Superior Court July 21 charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.
Bail was $50,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court papers say Bremerton police responded April 23 to the 1300 block of Sylvan Way. County officers located a suspect vehicle at Illahee Preserve off of Almira Drive, and deputies spoke with a park employee who saw the driver of the vehicle exit and enter a wooded area. The sheriff’s department set up containment and brought in a K9 to track the suspect.
The victim and his son said two people tried to rob them, and one punched the dad repeatedly before stealing $380. The victim said he knows his attacker because he is homeless and stayed with him for some time.
Victim’s family’s photos help catch suspect
A 31-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court July 23 charged with hit and run.
Bail was $100,000. He faces five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Court documents say Bremerton police originally responded March 29 at 3:46 p.m. to the intersection of Sheridan Road and Schley Boulevard. The victim and her two young children were hit by a BMW that went through a stop sign.
That driver took off on foot, but the victim’s family took photos of the suspect. An officer recognized the man, and the picture was matched with a previous booking photo. The mother of the suspect said he went through an unlocked sliding glass door and took the keys to the BMW.
The victim suffered a pinched nerve and neck pain.
Suspect ‘borrows’ car even though told not to
Bail was set at $151,000 for a 43-year-old man in Superior Court July 24 charged with motor vehicle theft.
He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court documents show that Bremerton police arrested the man July 23 at 6:50 a.m. in the 600 block of N. Montgomery Avenue. The female victim told the man the day before he could not borrow it because its license tabs were expired. The victim’s roommate was told by the suspect that the victim said it was OK.
Asked why she waited two weeks to report it, the victim said she didn’t want him to get in trouble. She tried several times to get him to return it, but there was no response.
Evicted woman choked by home’s caretaker
A 55-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court July 23 charged with assault.
He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court information says that the man was arrested by Kitsap deputies July 22 at 3:09 a.m. The woman had been evicted but came back to get belongings. The man said she had to leave then choked her. He then chased her around the residence until officers arrived. He said he was angry because as the caretaker of the residence he said she was disrespectful to him, disturbing other people and making a mess of the room.
Man uses bolt cutters during theft of bicycle
A 22-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court July 21 charged with theft after breaking a lock with bolt cutters to steal a bicycle.
Bail was $60,000. He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court documents say Kitsap deputies responded July 9 to the 9900 block of Blaine Avenue NW in Silverdale. The victim said a $1,000 Cannondale Rise 3 mountain bike was stolen from inside his apartment building after the lock had been cut. There was video of the theft.
On July 2 at 12:30 p.m. a tenant was loading groceries from his car into the building that is not open to the general public. The tenant left the door propped open. A man snuck in the door, used bolt cutters to break the lock and stole the bike.
The video was sent out county-wide, and tips came in and a suspect was identified, who was found riding the stolen bike. The suspect dropped the bike and fled into the woods when approached by a sergeant.
Woman choked while arguing about finances
A 31-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court July 25 charged with strangulation assault.
He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court papers say Kitsap deputies arrested the man July 24 at 10:13 p.m. on W. Arsenal Way. The woman was in the kitchen washing dishes while she was arguing about finances with her husband. He choked her, and she wound up on the floor for up to 20 seconds.
