Kitsap County Superior Court cases

Man charged for drive-by shootings

A 19-year-old man from Port Orchard, whose vehicle has a distinct loud exhaust, was charged after shooting up windows and an ice cream chest at the Olalla Food Market.

He was charged with two drive-by shootings in Kitsap County Superior Court June 30. Bail was set at $805,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for each count, plus the same penalty for second-degree assault.

Court papers say Kitsap deputies were dispatched for an assault June 29 at 2:05 a.m. to the 3600 block of Preble Street near Bremerton. A witness said the suspect slammed the victim to the ground, got on top of her, and punched and kicked her in the head. The witness said the suspect drove off in a red car with loud exhaust and blue-tinted headlights.

The victim said she met up with a friend when the suspect pulled up and was extremely agitated and heavily intoxicated. She said he pulled a firearm after assaulting her and said, “I’m going to shoot you.” She said she was aware of a drive-by shooting the suspect committed just hours before. She said she and her friend knew the suspect from high school.

The drive-by occurred earlier in the 12900 block of Hadfield Road SE in Olalla. A car drove by and 10 to 15 gunshots were shot in the air. Another five gunshots were heard just blocks away.

Witnesses said they heard a loud muffler. Numerous 9mm shell casings were found. Multiple gunshot holes were found in windows at the Olalla Food Market. A bullet also hit an ice cream chest in the store. Surveillance footage with audio was obtained. Another witness saw that the suspect had bragged about what he had done on Snapchat.

Man charged with rape

A 32-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court June 25 charged with second-degree rape.

He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Court papers say Kitsap deputies responded Oct. 2, 2024 at 2:20 p.m. to a Port Orchard address. A woman said her friend was sexually assaulted. The friend went to St. Anthony’s hospital for testing with a SANE nurse. The woman said she was sleeping when the man came in and raped her. She said she was in so much shock she didn’t fight him off or tell him to stop. She said both had been drinking heavily. The suspect and his wife said the rape charge was untrue. He agreed to DNA testing.

Those results matched the rape test. The suspect was then “completely honest” and said he and the victim had “fooled around,” but it was consensual and he didn’t want his wife to find out.

Man arrested on vehicular homicide warrant

A 55-year-old man from Spanaway was in Superior Court June 16 arrested on a warrant from Jan. 16 for vehicular homicide-DUI.

He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Court documents show that the State Patrol responded to a one-car rollover Nov. 7, 2022, at 9 a.m. on Highway 16. A white van was under a tree lying on its passenger side. A trapped passenger was being extracted. He later died.

The driver was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with a head injury. A security guard there found meth in his belongings. The driver said the passenger grabbed the steering wheel as the car was drifting, which caused him to lose control. He said the drugs were not his. But his speech was slow, he had watery eyes, and he refused a drug test. He was handcuffed to the hospital bed. A telephonic blood search warrant was obtained due to the death.

Prisoner charged for possessing drugs

A 33-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court July 1 charged with possession of drugs by a prisoner.

He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Court records say Kitsap deputies found out April 28 at 7 a.m. that the inmate returned from furlough with a positive urine test. In his cell was a container of hair grease containing meth and other drugs concealed within. A shakedown of the Central Pod unit at the jail then took place. No other drugs or paraphernalia were found.

Woman with multiple DUIs arrested again

A 68-year-old Bremerton woman was in Superior Court facing three charges with bail set at $1 million June 30.

She faces 10 years and a $20,000 fine for felony driving under the influence, along with two one-year in jail and $5,000 fine for driving with a revoked license and without a required ignition interlock.

Court documents say Kitsap deputies arrested the woman June 27 at 9:20 p.m. in the 3300 block of Kitsap Way. The woman was pulled over for lane violations, inconsistent speeds and inappropriate stopping. She smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. Her blood alcohol content was .15, almost twice the legal limit. She has four prior DUI convictions in the previous 10 years.

Woman charged with drug possession, intent to deliver

A 32-year-old Kingston woman was in Superior Court June 30 charged with possession with intent to deliver meth.

She faces 10 years in prison and from $1,000 to $25,000 in fines, depending on the amount of drugs. Bail was $50,000.

Court documents say Bremerton police made the arrest June 29 at 8:22 a.m. in the 5600 block of Kitsap Way.

Officers saw two suspicious people at a hotel. Police were told at the front desk the two had not checked in. Video showed that to be true, and it looked like they were trying to avoid police by going between the second and fifth floors.

Police recognized both as part of an ongoing narcotics distribution investigation. The man goes to Southern California, purchases pounds of drugs and returns to Kitsap. The woman helps move bags of drugs after his return. One text tells of buying $100 in fentanyl and $50 of meth. A search warrant found four pounds of illegal drugs, firearms, a large amount of money and other contraband.
