Inslee to host town hall meeting in Suquamish Saturday

Congressman and award winning limerick writer Jay Inslee will host a town hall meeting in Suquamish on Saturday, May 2.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Suquamish Community House, 18294 Hyak Lane.

Inslee will give an update on recent congressional activity, then constituents will have an opportunity to ask questions and give comments.

Meanwhile, Inslee’s verse will be featured in an Eagle Harbor Book Company event this week.

Inslee, a Bainbridge resident, was recently awarded first prize in Eagle Harbor Book Company’s second annual Bainbridge Island Limerick Contest. Winning limericks are on display at Eagle Harbor Book Company and an Irish-themed reading will be held 7:30 p.m., April 30.

Inslee will be unable to attend the reading but his 1st place limerick reads as follows:

There once was a Swedish crab catcher

On Bainbridge he laid on a stretcher

He looked nearly dead

Then meekly he said,

“Da crab’s yist too big in dere Fletcher.”

Other winners were Bob Leik, 2nd prize and Jan Bailey, 3rd prize. Honorable mentions were awarded to John Morrow, Frank Buxton, Bob Leik, Morgan Smith, and Eli Bucker.
