Inslee campaign for president hits $1 million milestone

Governor Jay Inslee has raised more than $1 million in contributions for his campaign for president.

Inslee started his 2020 run Friday morning on YouTube — becoming one of a dozen candidates officially in the race for the Democratic Party nomination — and announced his campaign total during an interview on “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC Monday evening.

Inslee’s campaign said the governor has received donations from all 50 states in his climate change-focused campaign.

“This is a major sign of the grassroots support behind our climate mission,” said Inslee campaign manager Aisling Kerins. “In all 50 states, Americans are calling for a president who will put climate change first on the national agenda — and that’s why they’re supporting Gov. Jay Inslee’s campaign for president.”

Inslee’s extensive interview Monday on MSNBC was the latest in a series of media interviews over the past two days, and followed appearances on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and “The View.”

Inslee is traveling to Iowa Tuesday to kick off his “Climate Mission Tour,” and his campaign said he will be in Nevada and California later this week.
