HomeStreet Bank rebrands to Mechanics Bank following merger

Recently, Bainbridge Islanders may have noticed the rebranding of the former HomeStreet Bank on Hildebrand Lane to Mechanics Bank.

In early September, Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank merged with California-based Mechanics Bank to operate a combined total of 166 branches under the Mechanics Bank name. Mechanics Bank said no jobs will be lost at either the Bainbridge Island branch or other locations, Mechanics Bank spokesperson Greg Jones said.

Prior to the merger, HomeStreet Bank operated 55 branches across Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii. Mechanics Bank operated 111 branches in California. They currently have one branch in Kitsap County on Bainbridge Island.

Customers likely won’t notice any major changes to banking operations throughout the integration process, which Mechanics Bank anticipates will be completed in early 2026, Jones said.

Mechanics Bank declined to provide the number of customers served in Kitsap County or statewide.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for us to bring our highly personalized relationship style of banking to new markets on the West Coast. Our merger with HomeStreet gives our customers a substantially broader, more convenient network of banking centers. As well, it results in a greater capacity and wherewithal to meet their banking and lending needs,” Jones said.
