George Lawrence Storm died July 17, 2015. He was 57.

George was a friend and a neighbor at Winslow Cohousing on Bainbridge Island in the 1990s.

George was a member of the Earth Stewards Network as well as an enthusiastic cohouser. He especially enjoyed cooking enormous meals for the community in the Common House. His team would have everything prepped, anxiously awaiting George, who would arrive at the last minute with a huge salmon from the Pike Place Market. While that was cooking, he would prepare his signature Fettucini Alfredo, and leave a tremendous mess, which none of us minded cleaning up.

George was a very talented computer graphics artist, and worked for several years for Merchant du Vin designing promotional materials. He also conducted highly entertaining beer and wine tasting events. I lost track of him for a while after he moved to Canada to take a programming job with Corel Corporation, but details of his impressive career can be seen at his Linked In site.

George was an inventor who designed, patented and manufactured devices to assist the mobility impaired. He made his way back to Philadelphia, where he married, returned to Seattle briefly, and then took a job in California. During the last few years of his life, George created Tellus Homes, an organization devoted to building affordable living environments on land that is unsuitable for conventional construction.

Along the way he neglected his health and contracted diabetes. Although he was able to come home to his beloved Seattle, he lost his lower leg in 2012 to a diabetic infection, and never fully recovered. He took his own life on July 17, 2015.

George was divorced and had no known relatives. His remains are in the care of King County, and his ashes will be interred at some future date.
