11:57 a.m. A Bainbridge woman reported fraud after she responded to an ad on “Craigslist” posted by a “Germini Interiors” company in England looking for someone to process furniture orders in the U.S. She said she had exchanged emails with the company for a month and eventually received a cashiers check for $4,620. She was instructed to deposit the money into her own account and wire two payments of $1,500 to persons in South Carolina. She was told to keep 5 percent of the money and await instructions of handling the remaining sum. Her bank, however, said the check was a fake. The woman lost no money in the incident but was advised by police to keep an eye on her credit report for signs of identity theft.

3:58 p.m. A Wallace Way resident reported that a bicycle had been taken from her front porch a month before. She decided to report the theft after hearing of a similar incident from her neighbor. The bicycle was a red and orange 21-speed Trek mountain bike. An officer recalled having previously contacted a littering suspect with a similar bike, but had run the bike’s serial number and found that it had not been reported stolen. After being notified of the theft the officer attempted to recontact the suspect at his campsite near Ace Hardware but was unable to locate him or the bicycle. The investigation continues.

7:41 p.m. Police responded to a gas station on Hildebrand where a Silverdale woman had reportedly been assaulted and robbed by her 29-year-old daughter. The mother said she had argued with her daughter after returning home from a trip to Hawaii. The mother advised that the daughter had a drug problem, and had ransacked her home while she was away. The mother had agreed to drive the daughter to the Bainbridge ferry, but the daughter demanded she be let out as they reached Hildebrand. In the gas station parking lot the daughter demanded money from the mother, who gave her $60. The daughter started to walk away, then changed her mind and tried to grab a purse from the front seat of the car. A tug-of-war ensued over the purse and the daughter put the mother in a headlock, scratched her face and broke her $800 pair of prescription glasses. According to the mother several bystanders witnessed the incident but ignored her honking horn and cries for help. The daughter eventually walked away and was not found by police. The investigation continues.

The juvenile said he had dropped a cup of hot chocolate on the floor in the ferry, and a man in his 40s had grabbed him by the arm and demanded that he clean it up. The juvenile said he was going to clean up the mess anyway and the man left after he did. The boy showed the officer red marks and a small bruise on his arm. Police were unable to locate the suspect.

The driver said the marijuana was very old and he didn’t remember that he had it in the car. He said he used to smoke marijuana frequently, but had cut back since his last drunk driving charge. The case was forwarded to prosecutors for charging.

9:04 p.m. A ferry captain called 911 to report a red flashing light at the Wyckoff Superfund site. Officers found the light flashing from behind a razor wire gate.
