SEPTEMBER 24

7:56 a.m. A citizen turned in a set of keys found near the intersection of Wing Point Way and Cherry Avenue. The set included five keys on a Washington Mutual key chain. One was for a Ford vehicle. The keys were entered into storage for safekeeping.

SEPTEMBER 25

7:25 a.m. A Silverdale woman drove her Volkswagen Passat into a ditch on Bucklin Hill Road while trying to avoid a vehicle stopped in front of her. The woman said she rounded a curve at the intersection of Bucklin Hill Road and Eagle Harbor Drive when the vehicle in front of her “slammed on its brakes.” The woman said she swerved right to miss it but accidentally jammed on the accelerater instead of the brakes and drove into the ditch, knocking down a traffic warning sign in the process. The Passat sustained front end damage. No injuries were reported.

10:18 a.m. An officer responded to Wing Point Way, where a citizen reported an injured fawn. The deer appeared to have two broken legs but was not on the roadway. The officer recommended that the citizen contact a local wildlife shelter. Officers later dispatched the deer at the shelter’s request.

2:11 p.m. An employee of a Winslow Way business turned in a diamond ring found in the shop. The ring was comprised of two white gold rings welded together. One ring had a diamond inset the other held three small gems. The ring was entered into storage for safekeeping.

3:26 p.m. A Bainbridge woman reported that after confronting her roommate, who had been acting masochistically, the roomate assaulted her, throwing her to the ground and attempting to choke her. The roommate later threatened her with a knife and attempted to cut her own throat. Police transported the roommate to Harrison Hospital for evaluation.

4:40 p.m. A Bainbridge resident reported that his mother-in-law, a mental patient at a Seattle group home, had entered his house uninvited while he was at work. The man said a neighbor had called to warn him that the woman was at his house. The man said he had not had contact with the woman for several years and that she’d apparently left her group home without permission. The man asked that she be arrested. Police took the woman into custody and transported her to Harrison Hospital for evaluation.

5 p.m. A Ford F150 was towed after it rear-ended a Ford F350 on Agate Pass bridge. No injuries were reported.

SEPTEMBER 26

10:43 a.m. A Bainbridge man was transported to Harrison Hospital after falling from a ladder at a Cedar Street job site. The man was standing on the ladder sawing when the ladder gave way; he fell six feet onto concrete.

12:23 p.m. An officer responded to Safeway, where three juveniles were being detained on suspicion of shoplifting. One admitted to having left the store without paying for Vitamin Water, eye drops and two packages of Lunchables. The other two admitted to walking out with mineral water and meals from the China Express. The three were released to family members, an reports were forwarded to juvenile prosecutors.

2:40 p.m. A Seattle man crashed his motorcycle while riding northbound on SR-305 with two other motorcyclists. The group was making a turn onto Manual Road when the rider apparently hit his front brake, wobbled and fell with the motorcycle on top of him. The man suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to a hospital by aid.

3:27 p.m. An officer responded to Safeway, where a juvenile was being held for shoplifting. An employee said the boy had ordered Peking pork and chicken and then left the store without paying. The juvenile admitted to taking the items and said he had no money to pay for them. He was released to his mother. A report was forwarded to juvenile prosecutors. As the officer left Safeway, he saw security escorting a man back to the store. Security told the officer that the man had been seen taking a rice bowl and vitamin water totaling $6.91. The man said he was in a hurry after getting the food and a friend advised him to walk out rather than wait for a cashier. They said it was a stupid thing to do and apologized. He was cited and booked into Kitsap County Jail.

SEPTEMBER 27

12:17 p.m. A resident of North Town Drive reported that her Honda Civic had been broken into the night before. She said that at 11:30 p.m. her brother heard a commotion outside and went out in time to see five suspects running to two pickup trucks. The driver of one of the trucks was female, and all the suspects appeared to be between 17 and 20 years old. Locks on the Honda had been broken and the suspects had ransacked the vehicle but had not taken anything. Repair was estimated at $150.

3:29 p.m. A city parking enforcement officer turned in a red women’s wallet found in the area of Winslow Way and Ferncliff Avenue. The wallet’s owner was identified on numerous cards inside the wallet. Police left messages for the owner and placed the wallet in storage for safekeeping.
