It’s not official, but it’s pretty clear: With 71.3 percent of the vote, Tim Kinkead will hold on to his seat on the Bainbridge Island School Board.

The first vote tally, announced Tuesday night, show that 2,867 islanders backed the District 4 incumbent, while challenger Renard Burnett received 1,133 votes, or 28.2 percent of those counted.

Kinkead, who was first appointed to his position in 2010, has been pretty adamant that he’s not an “issues” candidate, although he said he will work to support teachers and attract new talent if re-elected.

He has also noted the need for extensive facility improvements and expressed his hope that the community will be extensively involved with that discuss.

Burnett could not be reached for comment in the lead up to the race despite repeated attempts by phone and email.
