A 30-year-old Port Orchard man was arrested on a warrant and appeared in Kitsap County Superior Court Oct. 9 on charges of second-degree theft.
The man also is charged with second-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment from a Nov. 20, 2022, incident and violating a protection order from Dec. 1, 2022. Bail was set at $350,000 as it’s the second time he’s been arrested on a warrant for the same crimes. He faces 20 years in prison and $40,000 in fines.
Kitsap sheriff’s records show on Oct. 16, 2021, Cencom advised of a theft in progress at a construction site at Central Valley Road and Teri Court in Bremerton. Officers saw the suspect truck with a red generator in the back at a gas pump nearby.
The reporting party said the suspect had been hired as a temporary worker off a Craigslist ad but wasn’t needed that day. He showed up anyway and took the generator. The caller blocked the suspect from leaving, but he drove around him at a high rate of speed. That’s when police were called. The suspect said his wife kicked him out of the house, and he had no money so he committed the crime. He didn’t think other workers would be there that day.
The second incident was called in around 10 p.m. The suspect’s wife packed a bag and said she was leaving him. He pushed her to the floor, and she was hit in the hand and back. He left and came back with a small handgun. He pointed it to his head, and it clicked. He pointed it at his wife’s head, then told her to get up and leave.
But he blocked the door, again pointed the gun at her and said she wasted half his life. He head-butted her and pushed her to the ground again. He finally left, and she told officers he was probably high on fentanyl.
When found, he denied his wife’s allegations, saying he doesn’t even own a gun, and she tripped on things in the entryway. Fentanyl was found in the truck.
