The Bainbridge Island Classic Car Cruise-In wrapped up another summer of fundraising for Project Backpack with an overflow crowd of choice cars and auto enthusiasts on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Aaron Strom, of Modern Collision Rebuild & Service, said the last edition of the annual event attracted well over 100 car buffs who showcased their wheels.

Approximately $3,400 from this year’s Cruise-Ins will be donated to Project Backpack.

Strom said some of the hottest cars this year were a Mercedes-Benz 300SL (the gull-wing version) and an Austin-Healey.

“A couple of old Packards that came were really cool,” he added.

“The part I like about the show is it’s basically anything, there’s something there for everyone,” he said.

That was evident Tuesday, which also featured workhorse trucks from a generation ago or more in nearly showroom shape, as well as a customized hearse and plenty of classic Chevy Impalas.
