Bainbridge Island is seeking proposals for projects to receive funding for human services activities next year.

The city defines human services as those services which assist people in meeting the essential life needs of food, clothing, shelter and access to health care. This includes activities such as providing people with the tools to achieve economic, social and emotional stability to the best of their ability; offering activities and services that promote healthy development of the individual, prevent problems, and support positive outcomes; and supporting quality of life programs that enhance the health and well-being of the individual and the community.

For 2016, there are approximately $330,000 in funds available for distribution to support selected projects. The Bainbridge city council will consider funding for a wide range of activities, and seeks to encourage projects of all sizes. Applicants may seek a minimum award of $5,000 and a maximum award of $165,000.

Proposals will be reviewed by a citizen advisory committee, which will develop a funding recommendation for the city’s 2016 awards. The citizen committee’s recommendation will be considered by the city council in early December.

Proposals are due no later than 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.

Applicants seeking funding must be registered as a federally sanctioned nonprofits. Individual persons are not eligible. The city will only accept proposals in electronic format that are sent to cityadmin@bainbridgewa.gov.

To view the request for proposal in its entirety, visit the City Funded Community Services page on the city website at http://www.ci.bainbridge-isl.wa.us/.

Potential applicants are invited to attend an informational meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at city hall. This meeting will provide an opportunity to ask questions related to the application materials and evaluation process.
