To the editor:
The Bainbridge Island City Council has much to do. Buying the PSE electric power system on the island should not be one of those priorities.
Electric power is critical to everything we do. It is not like a break in the sewer line that sends thousands of gallons of sewage into the Puget Sound. We can work our way past that.
It is not like a pothole that we can drive around or take our car to the garage to have the front end fixed.
It is not even like trying to site a new police station at a location that has an existing building that has environmental issues. The voters were able to straighten that mistake out for you.
This is electricity. It is really important and it currently works. We would all like less outages, but the answer to that is not having our own one or two crews when we have a dozen outages across the island at the same time.
Please focus on the priorities that really belong to you.
