The ballot for the Primary Election got a little bit more crowded for Bainbridge Island voters late last week.

Dee McComb filed as a candidate for the South Ward, Position 3 council seat.

She joins fellow candidates Robert Bossman and Roger Townsend in the race.

With a trio of candidates in the race, Bainbridge voters will get the chance in August to pick the top two that will advance to November’s General Election.

Three council positions out of seven are on the November ballot.

In addition to the open race for the South Ward — Councilwoman Kirsten Hytopoulos decided against seeking another term — the council seats for the Central Ward, Position 5 and the North Ward, Position 7 will also be on the 2013 ballot.

Voters will also pare down their choices in the Central Ward race come the Primary Election.

Three candidates are in the running; John Green, Arlene Buetow and Wayne Roth. Councilman Debbi Lester, the incumbent, is not running for re-election.

Candidates for the North Ward seat will get a pass in the primary.

Val Tollefson and Richard “Dick” Haugan filed last week as candidates for the position.
