The Bainbridge Island Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19 in the Bainbridge Public Library meeting room.

The topic of guest speaker Mae Gentry is “Erased From South Carolina History: A Family Tree’s Missing Branch.”

Mae Whitlock Gentry is a former writer and editor at the Chicago Sun-Times and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She has a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, and a master’s degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. A one-time Bainbridge Island resident, she now lives in Oakland, California, where she is working on a book about her family.
