The Bainbridge Island City Council is expected to OK $300,000 in cultural funding for 16 organizations at its meeting Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. at City Hall and on Zoom.
The measure is on the consent agenda, where items usually are rubber stamped and no longer discussed.
None of the 16 received all the money they requested.
Bainbridge Performing Arts, WEAVE Presents and Vitalize Kitsap received $35,000 each, about 70% of what each asked for.
Kids Discovery Museum gets $32,500 (65%) and Arts & Humanities Bainbridge $22,500 (45%).
BI Historical Museum (67%), BI Japanese American Community (80%), Bloedel Reserve and Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (both about 50%) each received $20,000.
Ovation is to receive $15,000 (38%); and Islandwood and BI Film Festival $10,000 (50%).
BI Poet Laureate Program (70%) and Bainbridge Chorale (58%) get $7,000 each; and BI Youth Orchestra gets $6,000 and Amabile Choir $5,000 (about 30% each).
The council also expects to approve a list of 16 items BI establishments must use starting in January so they can be home-compostable. The list includes: Clamshell containers, Cone cups, Cup sleeves, Cutlery, Drinking straws, Food boxes, Food contact paper, Hot beverage cups, Napkins, Pizza boxes, Platters, Salad bowls, Serving tongs, Stirrers, Takeout trays, and Tasting spoons.
The council also will receive an update on the Highway 305 roundabout projects and consider a funding request from Kitsap Economic Development Alliance for $20,000 annually.
