Bainbridge High School officials are ramping up their efforts lately to remind citizens that the campus is closed to the public during school hours.
“It’s been a policy since 1995 that our campus is closed for public use during the school day,” said Principal Duane Fish. “We’ve taken steps since April 1 to get the word out internally and via social media, newsletters, etc.”
Signs have been placed around campus, he added, and school officials have been talking with people they encounter on campus during school hours to ensure the policy is understood.
The rule exists for both practical and safety reasons, the principal said.
“From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. our expectation is that our campus is strictly for teaching and learning,” Fish said. “Our best chance of detecting someone on campus who should not be while school is in session is to limit access and to do so we need the help of our community.”
