BHS boys suffer 12-11 OT LAX loss

BAINBRIDGE - Overtime play has historically not been kind to the Spartans. In fact, last year’s May 20 10-9 OT win over the visiting Skyline Spartans in the first-round of the playoffs was the first-ever achieved by a Bainbridge High School boys lacrosse team, according to team officials, and again last week, the extra minutes proved brutal for the team.

BAINBRIDGE – Overtime play has historically not been kind to the Spartans.

In fact, last year’s May 20 10-9 OT win over the visiting Skyline Spartans in the first-round of the playoffs was the first-ever achieved by a Bainbridge High School boys lacrosse team, according to team officials, and again last week, the extra minutes proved brutal for the team.

The Spartans lead early and seemed bound for the win, but then found themselves on the low side of a 12-11 game at home against the visitors from Eastlake on Thursday, March 19.

Goals were scored by Ben Biggers (two), Jack Frickelton (three), Ben LaRoche (two), and Max Wickline (five).

The team’s phenomenal freshman goalie Charlie Shrout held his own against the Eastlake onslaught, though he did end with his worst save percentage yet this season (approximately 46 percent), managing 10 saves out of 22 shots on goal.
