BCF awards grants to 22 nonprofits

Twenty-two local nonprofits have received grants from the Bainbridge Community Foundation.

Seven received them for the first time: Island Cooperative Preschool, KidVantage, Kitsap Children’s Museum, Kitsap Habitat for Humanity, Montessori Country School, Neurodiverse Connections and NW Hopeful Horizons.

The other 13 are: Bainbridge Youth Services, Helpline House, Housing Resources Bainbridge, Island Volunteer Caregivers, Kidzz Helping Kidzz, Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center, Vitalize Kitsap and YWCA of Kitsap County.

The record $30,550 in funds are to be used to increase the knowledge, skill level or efficiency of their staff or boards. There were 28 applicants.

Funds will be used for strategic planning, along with training in fundraising; diversity, equity and inclusion; life skills coach, financial management, social justice in the classroom, board and staff and neurodiversity inclusion.

Charles Poekel of the BI Film Festival said the grant will help put on their second event. “This grant will help us get the support we need to give the Bainbridge community access to a broad scope of artistic films this fall.”
